Some awards, some screenings and a lot more to come for Burning Ember.
In January we were honoured to have the film screen at Missionsfest Vancouver. It was a red carpet affair with 9′ gold statues greeting the filmmakers and filmgoers.
In February Burning Ember screened at the Winnipeg Real to Reel Film Festival. A festival organized by our friend, author and filmmaker Paul Boge. Paul’s wonderful heart is matched by an ability to follow it with an endless amount of energy. Burning Ember was not only delighted to be one of Real to Reel’s selected films to screen, but also take home the Best Documentary Feature trophy.
As spring hits we are excited to have Burning Ember start working it’s way though festivals in the United States. It will be screening at the 16th Annual Bare Bones International Independent Film, Arts & Music Festival in Oklahoma. Running April 10-16, it is particularly satisfying for us at Refuge because not only is this festival far away from traditional Steve Bell concert territory, but it’s also a non-faith based event. A testament that the film can go beyond and into the world.
End of April, director Andrew Wall will be attending the International Christian Film Festival in Orlando for a screening on April 23, and then in August the film will be at the World Music & Independent Film Festival in Washington. (Schedule TBA.)
Add to this all a couple of awards at The Indiefest Film Awards before Christmas for Feature Documentary and Christian categories and you could say things are beginning to happen for Burning Ember. We’re happy to see the film start to make way in the festival world.
