It’s December already and R31 is looking forward to a well deserved holiday break. From finishing up it’s first series, the true crime show Almost Unsolved, to rolling into the spinoff focussing on heists and a feature documentary… it’s been a busy and fascinating year at R31 to say the least.
Almost Unsolved, a 26 episode series which completed and began airing in spring 2023, can be seen on Superchannel in Canada. This includes Prime and AppleTV+. In the USA you can go to the True Crime Network. Its spinoff, Almost Unsolved: Heists, is currently in the middle of production and set to air in 2024. The 14 episodes include the Great Canadian Gold Heist of 66′ in Winnipeg and the legendary Brink’s Robbery of 1950 in Boston. Some wildly entertaining heist stories along with a few darker robberies, including the infamous “Pizza Bomber” in Erie Pennsylvania.
When not working on series, R31 has begun production of a feature documentary titled The Devil’s Handshake. A POV film that follows filmmaker Andrew Wall as he connects archival clues that reveal a complicated tale of extremist ideology connected to his Mennonite community in the 1930’s and beyond. It should make for a poignant and intense 80 minute ride.
