It’s been an exciting summer of screenings, awards and accolades for two of R31’s films, Suspended and the Art of Forgiveness and The Fantasy Makers. Both recently screened at the sixth annual Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase where Suspended won Best Overall Foreign Feature and the Higher Love Award. The Fantasy Makers was nominated for Best International Feature Documentary and Best Overall International Feature.

The Higher Love Award is given to the film seen as Making contact with that fabric/awareness that connects us.

This comes after having the two films compete at the 52nd WorldFest-Houston in Texas (Texas seems to like these films) this past April, where The Fantasy Makers screened and took home a Gold Remi Award and Suspended and the Art of Forgiveness received a Special Jury Remi Award.

Each film has screened around the world over the past year with The Fantasy Makers additionally taking home an Award of Excellence at the Accolade Global Awards and a Platinum Award at the International Screen Awards as well as being nominated at the CEVMA Film Awards for Best Docu-Drama. Suspended and the Art of Forgiveness has received a Rising Star Award at the Canada International Film Festival, Best Documentary Feature at the Real to Reel Film Festival, Best Documentary Feature at the Eau Claire Film Awards, Best Foreign Documentary at the Great Lakes Christian Film Festival and an Award of Exceptional Merit at the Docs Without Borders Film Festival.

This is not the first time that Refuge 31 or director Andrew Wall has had a film screen or won an award at the Fort Worth festival, which takes place just west of Dallas. Burning Ember – The Steve Bell Journey screened there in 2015 and won Best International Feature.

“FWIFS is quickly becoming a filmmaker and fan favorite. We have enjoyed growth each year since our birth and this coming season is shaping up to be bigger and better than the previous years. We are looking forward to bringing you a strong selection of fine films. Some you will see here first. Some you will only see here. Some are ending their festival run with us.

As always, we will have a mix of films from around the globe, as well as a good number of projects completed by local directors. We look forward to seeing you.”
