R31 is grateful to have been fairly busy over the past nine months. While the pandemic has complicated things, and made us wishing for a day when we can travel and hug all our friends and loved ones again, we’ve been busy and safe.
Despite all the travel restrictions, and other pandemic obstacles, we are delighted to have delivered The Science Fiction Makers (second part of the Faith In Imagination Series) to Superchannel/Fuse. The film follows The Fantasy Makers (2018) and we are anticipating a late December or early January broadcast for the new feature documentary film which examines the three unique authors, Victor Rousseau, C.S. Lewis and Madeleine L’Engle.

As for screenings, the short CBC documentary Boom, which examines the Keira Bond story, recently screened in New York City at The Cutting Room International Short Film Festival. We are so delighted that it not only was wonderfully received but won Best International Documentary Short. It has been a huge and humbling honour to share this story which is dedicated to the memory of Keira.

We are also excited to announce that our feature documentary Volendam: A Refugee Story will continue on screening through Europe at the Stockholm City Film Festival after its recent European premiere in Berlin at the Refugee’s Welcome Film Festival in October. The film continues to pick up momentum internationally and was also just nominated for a Crown Award – Best Foreign Production at the International Christian Visual Media Storytellers conference. (Due to covid theawards announcements have been pushed back to end of December.)

So stay tuned for more announcements and screenings. Hopefully at some point in 2021 we’ll be able to screen our films to live audiences again.

We wish you a safe and wonderful Christmas. For R31 it is going to be an unusual but well deserved rest.
